The EDYSL Academy which consists of
representatives from every club (EDUCC,
EDHSC, PSC, SGSC, HSSC, and GNSC) oversees
the implementation of league wide programs.
The academy has identified that there is
need too improve the level of coaching
through out the league and therefore has
made this one of it’s top priority’s for
2008. Through Global Soccer Solutions we
have implemented and in house coach
education program for its members free of
charge. Outlined below is a brief overview
of the program for 2008
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The
objective of the EDYSL Academy Coaching
Education Program is to provide a graduated
educational curriculum aimed at providing
our coaches with the skills necessary to
create an environment where player
development will occur. Since, few players
touch a ball outside of practice, the
coaches of our club need to ensure that the
limited practice time spent with players
develops all of the basic techniques. This
development takes the player from being
introduced to proper techniques, refining
those techniques and applying them to the
game of soccer.
PROGRAM
PHILOSOPHY
The
philosophy of the EDYSL Academy Coaching
Education Program is to promote the game of
soccer while instilling a love for the game
in every player. The program is committed to
providing coaches the tools needed to
develop every player to their potential and
to compete at the highest level of their
ability.
PROGRAM
GOALS
1. Provide
coaches the tools and information they need
to be successful and have fun.
2. Provide
coaches with an understanding of the
objectives they should be accomplishing each
year within their age group, and provide the
tools and knowledge to needed to deliver
sessions that teach those objectives.
3. Create
consistency of coaching methods,
terminology, and expectations across all age
groups and clubs.
4. Create
more consistency year after year of player
skills and knowledge of the game
5. To
provide a framework that allows coaches to
know that they were successful at teaching
the skills and concepts that they should be.
6. To
provide a framework that allows players to
know that they improved, and that specific

all of these should make an environment for
